OPENXTRA Management Team: Denis Laverty & Jack Hughes

OPENXTRA was founded at the beginning of 2003 by Denis Laverty and Jack Hughes.

In founding OPENXTRA Limited, Jack & Denis aim is to bring high quality, reasonably priced network management tools to a wider audience.

Denis Laverty

Denis Laverty, Managing Director

Holder of a Masters Degree in Information Design and a BA (Hons) in Three Dimensional Design.

As a founder member of Chevin Limited with more than 18 years experience in the field of network management and communication, Denis has been involved in network management software from its early days with the development of Chevin’s DOS Ethmon (1990) right up to the latest TeVISTA range. In 1999 he became Chevin’s Production and QA Director with Board level responsibility for all product testing, production, and release, but also brings to OPENXTRA wide industry experience in product training, designing promotional literature and datasheets, authoring help systems and user manuals. He also assisted on a successful venture capital bid with MTI Partners, which resulted in Chevin receiving an initial $3.5 million of investment funds.

Jack Hughes

Jack Hughes MBCS CITP, Chief Technical Officer

As a co-founder of OPENXTRA with Denis Laverty, Jack Hughes is the technical and programming expert within the company, responsible for product selection and development. Possessing extensive experience in the design and implementation of software projects, particularly in the fields of network management and communications, he has most recently worked on the design of core components of Chevin’s TeVISTA network management product range. Jack Hughes has also worked on a wide range of projects, including device drivers, Microsoft Windows applications and middleware using a variety of programming languages.
